Preventing And Treating Wrinkles
No one loves having wrinkles on their body. They are an unwelcome blemish on our beautiful skin, and most consider them as a sign of old age. The following are ways we can reduce and prevent the formation of wrinkles.
Protection From Weather
Use Moisturizers – Moisturizers go a long way in protecting your skin from the sun. As we all know damage from sun rays is a major cause of wrinkles. Make sure to get moisturizers that have the following:
- Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is used to reduce age spots, wrinkles, and cellulite. This is because it has vitamin E which is an antioxidant.
- Argan Oil – Argan oil is considered to be drier than coconut oil. It is recommended you use moisturizers with this oil as it is full of antioxidants and a proven natural anti-inflammatory.
One can also use face masks -Face masks help replenish the skin with nutrients. A typical egg white mask is known to do the trick. This is because it helps to tighten and shrink pores by reducing excess oil secretion from your pores. Egg whites also slow down skin aging thus preventing early formation of wrinkles.
Use Sunscreen – this is to block the harmful sun rays that not only cause wrinkles but are a major cause of skin cancer. Sunscreen is also good for the skin as it protects it from toxins and other harmful environmental factors. Make sure to check the ingredients of your sunscreen as some are made with chemicals that have been proven to facilitate skin cancer.
Wear Glasses Or Sunglasses – Sunglasses help us protect the skin around our eyes as glass lenses use modern technology to repel UV sun rays. It is also advised not to squint when wearing glasses as the constant facial movement will overwork your facial muscles which can make the skin form wrinkles.
Through diet, we can shield ourselves from wrinkles as certain nutrients fight skin aging and the formation of wrinkles. One is advised to include the following in their dietary plans.
Gelatin – this is acquired from eating cooked beef and pork. Gelatin fills up fine lines thus eliminating wrinkles.
Fermented Cod Liver Oil – This is an anti-inflammatory which means it’ll stop sun damage before it begins. An added advantage is that it is full of omega vitamins and helps keep the flu away.
Eat Lots Of Saturated Fat – eating a good amount of saturated fats is a major step in keeping the skin healthy. Saturated fat helps your skin to be more elastic and resistant to the oxidative damage from the sun. Good sources of saturated fat are avocados and coconut oils.
Stay Hydrated – Water helps the skin stay hydrated and thus prevents the formation of wrinkles and dry skin.
Avoiding Smoking And Alcohol
Smoking and alcohol should be avoided because:
Alcohol makes you age faster by causing wrinkles. Alcohol adversely affects your vitamin A levels which are a very important antioxidant for your skin. This vitamin plays a vital role in the regeneration of new skin cells.
Tobacco is one of the major accelerators of your skin natural aging process. Smoking causes the blood vessels to become narrow including those that serve the outermost layers of the skin with oxygen and nutrients. As a result, the skin is slowly starved of oxygen and other vital substances. This will degrade the skins ability to shield the internal organs from bacteria and infections leading to the formation of wrinkles.
Treatment Of Wrinkles
This procedure entails a solution being applied to the skin which makes it break off and peel off. The skin left behind is smooth and soft. This procedure leaves your skin sensitive to touch and suffers sun damage if not well protected following treatment. It is advised to wear sunscreen after the procedure is done. This method of treating wrinkles is quite expensive but delivers good results especially with deep wrinkles.
Injections are a fast working method of wrinkle treatment. A major drawback of this method is it is temporary. Substances in the injections fill the wrinkle and don’t facilitate the growth of new skin cells. Common injections to treat wrinkles are collagen, Botox, and hyaluronic acid filler injections.
Aloe contains powerful antioxidants that combat the appearance of aging. It also increases the production of collagen and elastin, which, in turn, slows the appearance of aging. Aloe Vera is an inexpensive method to use as you can use it directly from the plant or just buy it.
Warm Water And Soaps
